Q1. Please describe the plan making process for your jurisdiction. It is suggested you use a flow chart to illustrate the stages of developing and approving/making of the statutory land-use plan (local environment plan in NSW, planning scheme in some other States)? Much of this information should be available from the relevant agency website. (250 words plus a flow chart or 2 pages max)

Q2. Development and land-use is largely controlled by the various powers of the Commonwealth, the States and local government. What are the limitations to the Commonwealth’s powers in relation to land use? Give a case study of where the Commonwealth have used their powers to intervene in State decisions. (See Chapter 7 in The Environmental Law Handbook). (250 words and no more than 2 pages including references).
